Canal du Midi

Canal du Midi

Description of the location

Also part of Unesco World Heritage since 1996, the Canal du Midi is the oldest canal still in use in France, dating from the 17th century. Originally built for commercial transportation, it’s now mainly used for leisure cruises on river barges. It links the Mediterranean Sea to Toulouse with its 240 km of picturesque tree lined canals.

Producers visit, day 4

At lunch, the producers were given the opportunity to appreciate the peace and quiet of the countryside while cruising on the Canal du Midi on a luxurious barge. The barge’s crew treated them to a gourmet lunch while crossing 3 of the canal’s locks.
